Domain name is the thing that identifies your website. It’s the most popular word in Internet and everyone has to remember it to run Internet. A domain name is the face of any website.

When you host a website with any web host then they give you an IP address which is in the form 192.168.0.1, simply looking no one can remember that long number, so to make it easy domain names are used. After you host the site and register the domain, you then point your domain to the IP address and whenever any person type in your domain in the browser’s address bar then the browsers search for the corresponding IP address and downloads the site in your browser.. Domain name are obviously better and easy for branding your website than those numbers.
Domain names are more than just name of your website. Outside world will only know your domain name , so while your register the domain you should make a correct and good decision on choosing the name which will help you in both branding and in SEO purpose. Any domain that refers directly to your product is much easier for users to remember and they will just enter the domain in browser and get to your site rather then searching it in SE and landing up in your rival’s page.
Besides the common TLDs like .com, org, .net, .edu, etc. there are many other extensions to available which you can also use in case you don’t find your name in common TLDs.
Some of common ccTLDs are like - .mobi, .tv, .au, .us, .in, etc.
Now a days its not required that you have to have .com domain. If you cannot get good name in .com then you can certainly other TLDs like .biz and any other which suits your business.
